Khuzestan Province

Khuzestan province is one of the most ancient provinces of Iran. It is the kingdom of an ancient empire called Elam. Some say it might be the very first civilization on earth!

Khuzestan has both green and blue era. Sea and forests of this place are truly beautiful. 

Many of historical sites of Iran are located in Khuzestan. Handicrafts and traditional foods of it are really amazing.

Historical Fabrications

Chogha Zanbil Ziggurat

Chogha Zanbil  Ziggurat(Temple)  is an adobed  construction that has almost 3000 years old. Genius Elam  architects built this temple in the most intelligent way. There are evidence of glass and glaze existence in this temple which tell us that they were mastered in kiln technics! building a 53 meter construction in 3000 years ago, truly is a wonder. Chogha Zanbil  Ziggurat is known as a world heritage by UNESCO in 1979.

Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System

An ancient structure, a masterpiece of engineering and architecture,  Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System.
This magnificent structure is a unique hydraulic system that contains water mills, canals, dams and tunnels. These constructions were made in accurate measures. Usage of them was to lead water to farm lands. Start of building it was in time of  Achaemenid Empire by order of Darius the Great. It gradually got more details and finally completed in Sasanid dynasty. Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System was known as a word heritage by UNESCO in 2009. READ MORE

Eshkaft-e Salman

Eshkoft-E Salman valley  is actually an inscription that belongs to Elam empire. 

This inscription is one of the few remnants of Elam empire. It seems that this place was a location for worshiping Trisha, one of high gods of Elamics. 

There are four inscription in  Eshkoft-E Salman valley. Two of them are inside a cave nearby and the other two are in the open space.

KHUNG-E AZHDAR

Another  inscription of Elam empire. But actually there are two inscriptions in this place. The other one belongs to Parthian Empire. 

It is said that the parthian inscription identity is most likely  Mehrdad, one of parthian kings. 

This inscription was discovered in 1961 by Louis Vandenberghe.

Shush Castle

Shush Castle was built for French archaeologist settlement by Jean-Jacques de Morgan in Qajar dynasty. It is near to Tomb of Daniel.

Plan of this castle is like  Middle Age buildings. Unfortunately, materials of this castle is brought of  Palace of Darius and Chogha Zanbil ziggurat. 

Many historical objects were discovered of  Shush Castle. Objects like queen Napira Esostun statue and  Code of Hammurabi.

Kornasian Bath

Kornasian Bath used to be a traditional public bathhouse. Nowadays it has changed the usage to a museum. 

This public bathhouse was built in Qajar dynasty and located in Dezful.

Today you can visit it and get familiar with traditional jobs of this city.  

 

Lives Village

Leves village is a perfect destination for some peace and quiet! This villages is located in a valley and because of that it has a temperate clime. 

The interesting point about this village is the architecture style of this village. Yard of upper houses are rooftops of down houses!

Leves village has at least 700 years old but there are mills that belongs to Sasanid dynasty! Some say the name of this village is taken after a roman commander.

Shevi Waterfall

Shevi Waterfall is the biggest natural waterfall in middle east and it is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Iran! 

Beautiful sight of nature, sound of water and splendid view of is is very pleasant indeed. Be sure to visit this charming waterfall in spring!
